Odessa College Bachelor’s Program Graduate Accepted into Oklahoma City University School of Law

Odessa, TX – Odessa College proudly announces the acceptance of Matt Stringer into the Oklahoma City University School of Law, after earning his Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences degree in Leadership and Management with a specialization in Entrepreneurship at Odessa College. Matt’s educational journey at OC exemplifies the college’s commitment to fostering student success and supporting lifelong learning in the Permian Basin region.

Matt began his time at OC with a simple goal: to earn a paralegal certification. However, with encouragement from his instructors, he soon decided to pursue an associate degree. About halfway through the program, Matt set his sights on law school, knowing he would need a full undergraduate degree to make that dream a reality. Through OC’s bachelor’s program, Matt developed the skills and qualifications he needed, and he has recently been accepted into the Oklahoma City University School of Law.

During his course work at OC, Matt had access to professors who were practicing attorneys and advanced paralegals, giving him valuable insight into the legal field. "Having access to legal professionals who were part of the community was an incredible asset," Matt said. “The support I received at OC helped me professionally and academically.” After graduating, Matt worked as a state news reporter for The Texan, where he covered legislative affairs and held press credentials with both the Texas House of Representatives and the Texas Senate. It was during this time that Matt made the decision to pursue his law degree.

Matt also credits the personal support he received from OC’s faculty for helping him take this next step in his education. “One of my professors wrote me a letter of recommendation, which proved to be essential in my acceptance into law school,” Matt added.

Reflecting on his time at OC, Matt expressed his gratitude for the impact it had on his career path. “I can’t stress enough how important what OC offers is and what it means to the entire Permian Basin. The instructors take a personal interest in your success, not just while you're at OC, but even after graduation.”

“The ease of access, the rigorous academics, and the professional atmosphere – everything about OC just made it so valuable to me as an Odessan to where I don’t think I would be here today if it weren’t for OC offering the bachelor’s program,” Matt concluded.

Odessa College congratulates Matt Stringer on his outstanding accomplishments and looks forward to watching him thrive in law school and beyond.
